VERDICT - $2,200,000.00 - Orange County - Medical Malpractice during a tonsillectomy against the Anesthesiologist and Hospital resulted in mild brain damage to a 5 year old boy.

VERDICT - $1,500,000.00 - Los Angeles - Medical Malpractice of a cardiologist resulting in the wrongful death of a 17 year old girl. The Dr. failed to diagnosis and treat congestive heart failure.

VERDICT - $1,000,000.00 - Riverside County - Drowning death of a 32 year old father in a public swimming pool.

VERDICT - $600,000.00 - Riverside County - Medical Malpractice of an Emergency Room Doctor and nurse in failing to diagnosis and treat dehydration resulted in the death of a 2 month old infant.

VERDICT - $564,518- San Bernardino – Anesthesiology Malpractice – a 50 year old emergency room technician woke up from abdominal surgery with sever permanent nerve damage to the nerves in his neck , resulting in loss of use of his left arm, and permanent disability due to incorrect positioning by the anesthesiologist prior to and during surgery.

SETTLEMENT - $3,500,000 – MEDICAL MALPRACTICE, PRENATAL USE OF BLOOD PRESSURE MEDICATION BY MOTHER. The  injured child, now age 5 suffers from severe kidney damage, developmental delays and growth retardation because his mother was given Lotensin, a blood pressure medication during her pregnancy, and her  obstetrician did not tell her to stop taking it or advise her of the risks of  kidney damage to her unborn child if she continued to take it.  The settlement will provide payments to the child during his lifetime totaling $3,500,000.00

SETTLEMENT - $1,750,000.00 - Riverside -California Medical Malpractice -2 year old girl suffers brain damage as a result of doctors failure to diagnois spinal meningitis.

SETTLEMENT - $1,650,000.00 - San Bernardino - Medical Malpractice of a Neurosurgeon resulting in paraplegia of a 35 year old woman.

SETTLEMENT - $1,500,000.00 - Kern County - Medical Malpractice of Doctors and nurses in a Neonatal intensive care unit lead to sever brain damage of a 23 day old infant.

SETTLEMENT $1,000,000.00 – Cardiology Malpractice -Failure to diagnose and treat heart disease.  A 42 year old man is seen by his primary care doctor with complaints of chest pain at rest.  An EKG shows some abnormalities.  The primary care doctor makes an urgent referral to a cardiologist for a treadmill stress.  The cardiologist does not see the patient for two weeks, and when he does, he does a Holter monitor test for abnormal heart rhythms.  This is normal so he schedules a treadmill stress test for two weeks later.  The patient died of a heart attack due to blocked arteries, a preventable death. The decedent was survived by his wife of five years.  The cardiologist’s insurance company pays the $1,000,000.00 policy limits to settle the case.

SETTLEMENT - $950,000.00 - San Diego - Medical Malpractice - Anesthesiologist failed to properly monitor 35 year old woman during theraputic abortion resulting in severe brain damage.

SETTLEMENT - $925,000.00 - Riverside - Medical Malpractice - Emergency Room doctor fails to diagnose heart attack resulting in death of 40 year old husband and father.

SETTLEMENT - $400,000.00 - Northern California Medical Malpractice Wrongful Death - The negligence of a Nurse Midwife in failing to promptely deliver a perfectly healthy term baby who got stuck in the birth canal resulted in the babies death due to asphyxiation. This settlement was with the hospital who employed the nurse midwife.( California medical malpractice law limits the non-economic damages for loss of  the love and affection of a child to $250,000.00)

SETTLEMENT - $400,000.00 - Northern California Medical Malpractice Wrongful Death - The negligence of a Nurse Midwife in failing to promptely deliver a perfectly healthy term baby who got stuck in the birth canal resulted in the babies death due to asphyxiation. This settlement was with the hospital who employed the nurse midwife. ( Sadly this case was against the same hospital and involved the same nurse midwife as the case described above it.  The death of this perfectly healthy baby occurred exactly the same as the other one, just a year apart.)

SETTLEMENT - $250,000.00 - San Bernardino - Medical Malpractice during a Laproscopic Cholecystectomy caused  damage to the Common Bile Duct.

ARBITRATION AWARD - $250,000.00 - Los Angeles - Medical Malpractice, failure to diagnois and treat Cardiac Artery Disease risk factors resulting in death of husband and father. (The decedent was disabled from a back injury and there was no loss of support.  Under California law $250,000.00 for non-economic damges was the maximum recoverable.)

ARBITRATION AWARD - $250,000.00 – Riverside Kaiser – The 73 year old husband and father of five adult children died of a pulmonary embolism following elective laparoscopic cholecystectomy(gallbladder surgery). Due to his age and the nature of the surgery he was at high risk for deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and either mechanical and/or pharmaceutical prophylaxis (preventive measures) were required but not provided. Since the decedent was retired and not providing financial support to the family, the $250,000.00 award is the maximum allowed by law for non-economic damages.
